Indian tractor deal inked
Locally-owned Men Sarun MDR Co., Ltd signed a distribution agreement with International Tractors Limited for India-manufactured tractors in a deal expected to boost the modernisation of the Cambodian agriculture sector.
The signing ceremony for the agreement was held last week, presided over by Minister of Agriculture Veng Sakhon. Manika Jain, the Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom, also attended the event.
Under the agreement, Men Sarun will import and distribute exclusively tractors from the Solis brand manufactured in India.
International Tractors Limited is a partner of Yanma, a Japanese tractor manufacturer, and sells its products in more than 100 countries.
“The companies’ investments today are in line with the new strategy and vision of the government for the development of priority sectors, particularly agriculture,” said Mr Sakhon.
“We aim to transform Cambodia into a modern and competitive farming nation, resilient to climate changes, and self-sustainable.
“This can only be done by promoting foreign direct investment and the development of the domestic private sector, which is a key ally in achieving the government’s strategic goals for the country,” he added.
